Jan Taucher is Principal Investigator of OceanICU’s work package three, “Impacts of Abiotic Climate Stressors (pH, O₂ & T) on the Biological Carbon Pump (BCP)”. Jan studies the functioning of pelagic food webs and biogeochemical cycles since 2010, particularly focusing on the impacts of ocean acidification and warming. Jan applies a wide range of scientific approaches, including experimental work, field expeditions, and numerical ecosystem modelling to investigate the interplay between plankton physiology, community composition, food-web interactions, and biogeochemical cycles.
