Élodie Jacob

WP4 | Mediterranean Oceanology Institute (MIO) at AMU

Élodie is a PhD candidate working in Marine Biology and Ecology at Aix-Marseille University (AMU), where she has gained professional experience and developed a strong interest in zooplankton biology. Building on this foundation, she joined the Scientific Interest Group Posidonie (GIS Posidonie) as a scientific diver, where she deepened her knowledge of Mediterranean marine ecosystems through both research and outreach activities. She is now undertaking her PhD thesis through the OceanICU project, focusing on zooplankton physiology, specifically investigating the effects of hydrostatic pressure during vertical migrations, both diel and seasonal. By combining oceanographic cruises with high-pressure laboratory experiments, Élodie is exploring how rapid changes in pressure modulate the metabolism of these vertical migrators. This work is part of the ongoing effort to better understand the biological carbon pump.
