WP3 | GEOMAR

Tobias Strickmann is a PhD student in the field of Biological Oceanography. He is part of the working group of Dr. Jan Taucher at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Zentrum für Ozeanforschung in Kiel, Germany. His broad research interests span imaging of marine particles and plankton, their ecology and influence on the global carbon cycle. After his Master thesis on Arctic zooplankton, Tobias worked as an associate scientist at GEOMAR on a marine time series data bank and a project on underwater fish imaging. In the OceanICU project, he is part of the Work Package 3, primarily researching the impact of environmental parameters on vertical particle fluxes by using global in-situ imaging, CTD, and sediment trap data.
